Greens Clean Up The Mineral Line

Residents come together for a massive clean up effort in Biddick and All Saints!
In a heart warming display of community spirit and environmental consciousness, residents of Biddick Hall & All Saints came together this weekend for a massive clean up effort aimed at removing litter and fly-tipping on the Harton Mineral Line walking route behind Boldon Lane, preserving the natural beauty of their surroundings. Volunteers of all ages rolled up their sleeves and got to work, demonstrating a shared commitment to the environment they live in and love.
The initiative, organised by Biddick & All Saints Councillor, Rachael Milne and Biddick & All Saints Candidate Chris Davies, and in collaboration with South Tyneside Council, saw an impressive turnout as concerned citizens gathered at the All Saints Community Centre to tackle litter that was blighting this well used walking and cycling route in the heart of the ward. Armed with gloves, rubbish bags, litter pickers, and happy faces, local residents embarked on a mission to make a massive difference in their community.
“It’s inspiring to see so many people coming together to make a positive impact on our environment. It has given me a real boost to know that our local Green Party are making a real difference in bringing our community together after decades of neglect under the previous establishment” says Daniel Guy, a local resident and volunteer. “By working together, we can create a cleaner, healthier environment for ourselves and future generations in South Tyneside.”
Local residents from one end of the ward to the other joined forces, highlighting the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
“The turnout today is a testament to the strength of our community and its dedication to preserving our natural resources and being proud of the area in which we live” said Green Party candidate for Biddick and All Saints, Chris Davies, who participated in the clean up alongside residents. “By working together, we can achieve remarkable results and ensure a sustainable future for our town.”
“The clean up effort not only improved the look of this wonderful public space but also has significant ecological benefits, reducing pollution and protecting wildlife habitats” says Biddick and All Saints Councillor Rachael Milne. “This year, Chris Davies and the green team have spoken to hundreds of residents, and many of them have told us how litter and fly-tipping on the Harton Mineral Line has become a real issue. Greens work hard all year round, and in response to direct concerns raised by local residents who we represent.” Participants expressed a sense of pride and accomplishment as they witnessed the transformation of a once-neglected area into a clean, vibrant landscape.
Plans are already underway for future clean up events, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. As one volunteer put it, “When we unite for the greater good, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish. Many hands make light work of any task, and we should all do something to give back to our environment if we are able to.”
